QinetiQ GRC appoints Norwegian distributor for Paramarine to exploit the Norwegian commercial ship design market

Portsmouth, UK – QinetiQ GRC has appointed Summit Systems AS, a leading provider of computer aided design (CAD) and product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions to the Norwegian market, as the distributor of Paramarine advanced marine design software in Norway.
Summit Systems was founded in 1993, its vision being to provide tools and services that enable Norwegian industry to be more competitive. With well over 300 customers, Summit is the leading provider of PLM solutions in Norway. Summit operates in a number of markets including automotive, aerospace and defence, energy, high-tech electronics and ship building. Summit has developed close working relationships with research and teaching institutions such as the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, in product development and analysis (CAE). In addition to Paramarine, Summit Systems services, sells and supports Siemens Software including the CAD product NX and PLM product Teamcenter.

Paramarine is based on over 20 years’ experience in marine design. Thousands of concept vessels have been modelled and their stability analysed using Paramarine. Paramarine is used extensively in both the defence and commercial sectors world-wide by shipbuilders, designers, operators and owners. Customers include Keel Marine, Princess Yachts, BAE Systems, Northrup Grumman, DCNS, and specialist commercial vessel designers such as Sustainable Maritime Technologies, Öswag and Bernard Olesinski.
It has also been deployed in some of the world’s leading universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University College London. The launch of the latest version of Paramarine has further extended the software’s functionality with enhancements to its reporting, concurrent design and documentation capabilities.
