Portsmouth, UK - Paramarine advanced marine design software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, is being used by Jacobs Sula to demonstrate their vessel design capabilities. Jacobs Sula is owned by Jacobs Engineering Group Inc who is one of the world's largest and most diverse providers of technical and professional services including scientific and specialty consulting.
Jacobs Sula is a rapidly growing systems engineering consultancy providing independent systems engineering advice and engineering science to the defence and aerospace sectors. As part of Jacobs Sula’s ambitious growth strategy they are constantly seeking to demonstrate their extensive capabilities to their chosen market sectors. As part of this programme they have been using Paramarine to design a high speed combatant mother ship for unmanned vehicles.
“From our perspective Paramarine is unique in the market particularly with regard to its capabilities associated with early stage design. For example by using Paramarine’s extremely powerful hull generator module we can change and reshape a ship in a matter of minutes rather than days of reworking. I would strongly recommend Paramarine to ship designers and naval architects. It gives you control to understand your design whilst taking care of the elements you don’t need to focus on. Paramarine gives you the freedom to really create, explore and develop early stage designs quickly and with confidence,” said Rob Skarda, Business Director, Jacobs Sula.
Paramarine is based on 20 years’ experience in marine design. Thousands of concept vessels have been modelled and their stability analysed using Paramarine. It is used by many of the world’s leading shipbuilders, as well as some of the world’s leading universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University College London. The launch of the latest version of Paramarine has further extended and enhanced the software’s functionality with enhancements to its reporting, concurrent design and documentation capabilities.
“We are seeing more and more naval architects in both the commercial and defence markets turning to Paramarine to exploit its powerful capabilities, particularly in the early stages of the design process. Jacobs Sula is an excellent example of an innovative and ambitious company using Paramarine to expand and develop their market potential,” said Vittorio Vagliani, Managing Director, QinetiQ GRC.
